This is a score I did for a cartoon scene that takes place in a circus. This is my attempt at utilizing a film scoring/compositional technique called “Mickey Mousing.” There was no actual video to this score but there were points in time that I had to use as hit/sync points, and specific scene descriptions for each hit/sync point. Enjoy!
(Times are approximate)
0:00 – Scene begins in a circus. Main character dressed as a clown enters the ring.
0:16 – Camera pans several times between main character and angry bull, but the character is unaware of it. The bull shortly begins to approach the main character.
0:29 – Main character finally sees the bull and a panicked chase begins
0:40 – Main character’s pants fall off and he falls, but then the chase continues as the bull gets closer.
0:59 – The bull stops to regain energy to charge at the main character, then darts towards him.
1:06 – The bull explodes like a pinata, and it turns out it was just two other clowns instead of an actual bull. They shake hands with the main character and all is well for now.
1:11 – The main character gets upset about the whole situation and chases the two clowns who pretended to be a bull out of the circus ring.
1:20 – Music is out.
I’ve also added this track to the “film soundtrack” and “orchestral” pages.
Because film scores like this where the music has many abrupt changes, I also created some loops, fanfare cues, and hits that would be great and more fitting for game, tv, and film music situations.
